How do I record a Google Meet call with the Chrome extension?

Install the Clipses extension for Chrome, sign in, and click Start recording on the card that appears when you join a Google Meet call. Then let "Clipses.ai Notetaker" in from the waiting room if Meet asks.

Before you start

You need Google Chrome on a computer. Find the extension in the Chrome Web Store by searching for "Clipses.ai: Record, Clip & Share Research Calls". Recording works on every plan, including Free.

Steps

  1. Click Add to Chrome on the extension's Chrome Web Store page.
  2. Click the puzzle icon in your Chrome toolbar, then click the pin next to Clipses so its icon stays visible.
  3. Click the Clipses icon and choose Sign in to Clipses.
  4. Sign in to Clipses if asked, then click Allow.
  5. Join your Google Meet call in Chrome.
  6. Click Start recording on the Clip & share this call card in the corner of the call.
  7. Admit Clipses.ai Notetaker from the people list if Meet holds it in the waiting room.
  8. Click Stop & save in the Clipses toolbar menu when you want to stop early. Otherwise it records until the call ends.
  9. Click Open in Clipses once the recording in the toolbar menu says Ready to clip.

Good to know

There are limits on how many calls you can record at once and how long each can be. See How many calls can Clipses record at once?
