I was not logged in when I connected
This is the most common cause. When you approve the connection, Clipses checks for a login in the browser that opened the approval page. If there is none, you see a page that says Sign in to Clipses first. Click Open Clipses login, log in, come back to that page, and click I signed in -- retry. The approval page should now show your email address. Check it is yours, then click Allow.
If your assistant opened the page in a different browser than the one you use for Clipses, log in to Clipses in that browser too, then retry.
It worked before, but now asks again
Connections stay active as long as you keep using them. After about a month with no use, the connection expires and the assistant asks you to sign in again. Approve it as you did the first time. Nothing in your account changes.
I disconnected it in Clipses
If you clicked Disconnect under Connected apps in Settings, the assistant's saved connection no longer works, so it prompts you to reconnect every time it tries to reach Clipses. Either approve the new connection, or remove the Clipses connector from the assistant so it stops asking. See How do I disconnect Claude or ChatGPT from Clipses?.
I am on a Claude Team or Enterprise plan
Members cannot add custom connectors themselves, and a connector that a member tried to add on their own will fail to connect. A workspace Owner adds Clipses under Organization Settings, then Connectors. After that, connect it from the list in your own Settings, then Connectors.
My tool cannot sign in at all
Some editors and MCP clients cannot open a login page. For those, create an API token in Clipses and paste it into the tool instead of signing in. See How do I connect an AI tool that does not support sign-in?.
